at the gas works, there's a ninety foot deep concrete pit in the ground under the gasometer that used to hold water. in it would sit an inverted cup holding gas manufactured on the site. the giant metal cup would move up and down within the metal frame of the gasometer depending on the volume or pressure of gas it needed to hold, with the pit of water below acting as a seal.

my idea is to remove the remaining cup, cut it to be 40' tall, and flip it upside down. then it would be lowered back into the soil-filled filled pit and used as a basin in which storm water captured from my site would flow into. inside, wetland plants and sand would filter it. water will evaporate or be piped out for irrigation.

While driving in W Texas from Lubbock to Midland, the wind kicked up to 40 mph gusts, picking up all the sand from dry fields. At times, it was like driving in heavy fog. I emptied a small handful of sand out of the air filter at the end of the 2 hour drive.
